30+ Photos Capturing The Many Faces Of Tokyo’s Stray Cats

Japan is such a peaceful country, from the scenery, to the people, and also the animal. Despite being in the streets with no owner, stray cats in Tokyo are usually taken care of by local people and animal shelters who give them food and health check every now and then. Under the lens of Masayuki Oki – a Japanese photographer, their carefree, serene yet amusing life are captured perfectly.

His collection used to receive comments negative comments, saying that it is ‘busayan’ – which means ‘ugly cats’, but the photographer did not let it affect his affection for his furry friends.“I want to travel the country photographing all of Japan’s lovely stray cats,” the photographer said.

He mostly took pictures of stray cats in the Shitamachi area, Toyko. From cats fighting; napping; goofing around with the camera; or just straight up lying in the middle of the road like they own it, his collection will sure give you a serotonin boost! Masayuki never pins the location where he does the feline photoshoot, but if you want to see more of his work, hit the follow button to his Instagram account @okirakuoki – where he frequently updates his photographic exploits of the stray cats.
