Dogs and cats are natural enemies, as they usually don’t click well and will probably pick a fight right off the bat. However, that does not mean all canines and felines can’t be friends, as this dog Raylan proves that dogs and cats can get along.

This nine-year-old dog is a parent of a lot of foster cats in the shelter: he gives them a lot of love, care, and affection until they can find a new home. The kittens here are either orphans or were thrown away by previous owners, which is unfortunate as they lack the parenting they need. Luckily, there are dogs like Raylan and his owner to give these kittens love and hope for a better future.

Raylan has become widely known recently since a video of him taking care of kittens went viral on the Internet, which not only spread more attention to the kittens and the shelter but also showed how loving and warmhearted a relationship between dogs and cats can be.

“Raylan’s a very smart dog who is eager to please and up for any adventure. I found out he liked cats when we brought our first foster kitten (Watson) home 6 years ago when Raylan was already 3 years old. He immediately just wanted to play with him and was so gentle and patient. Watson’s now our neighbor and they hang out frequently.” His owner said.

Having over 82k followers on Instagram, @Raylan_the_dog has surely spread his love to his kittens and also to a lot of the audience. A lot of people enjoy his wholesome content, “Raylan is a purebred mutt who enjoys getting beer for loved ones, road trips, and cuddling with his foster kittens” – even his Instagram description is adorable! Raylan’s owner once explained how they had him: “Raylan was adopted from a high-kill shelter where he was going to be euthanized. Nobody wanted him because he was too high energy and untrained, however, no one really had patience training him”. Under his owner’s care, Raylan turns out to be the most loving, gentle, and well-mannered dog ever!

Raylan has looked after over 60 kittens over the past 9 years. That’s plenty of children to have, right? The owner talked about how Raylan takes care of the kittens: “He cleans them constantly (which is very helpful when they’re young as they will it themselves growing up ), as well as playing with them and carrying them around. He also prevents them from scratching the sofa.”

The viral video of Raylan where him and two little kittens snuggling up to the pooch together has gained over 64k views. The comments are filled with love for the trio and wishes for the cats to find a forever home. The owner said: “I don’t know how he hasn’t gone viral before! We’ve been doing this for years and he’s so amazing.”

When the kittens found a new home and had to leave, Raylan’s reactions were really wholesome: “He’s usually ready for a rest when the kittens leave and never seems sad afterward, but after a few weeks of alone time he starts to get sad if I don’t get new kittens – and when new kittens come he’s always so happy and excited. New kitten day is his favorite day!”
