#1 Drinking tap water
While cats require the same amount of water as humans, allowing your cat to drink water from the faucet may not be the best option. Fluoride, bacteria, and pesticide residue are all found in some municipal water systems. Those substances may be harmful to your pets' health. If your cat is drinking from the tap, a drinking fountain or a water filter can be a good investment.
#2 Eating human food
When they observe you eating, a lot of cats will ask for human food. This is not advised, according to vets. The main reason is that many of the items we eat, while safe for us, can cause serious illness in your cat. A few examples include onions, chocolate, dairy, and grapes. It's a good idea to keep a check on your pet's food intake.
#3 Chewing on plants
Despite the fact that cats are strictly carnivores, they do occasionally graze on plants. However, many common houseplants, such as lilies and tulips, are toxic to cats.
If you have a cat and want to acquire some plants, take the effort to make sure they're cat-friendly. However, if you currently have plants in your home and plan to obtain a cat, you need keep them away from them.
#4 Messing with household items
You might be startled to learn that some common household products are potentially detrimental to your kitten. A few examples include earplugs, twine, thread, rubber bands, and hair ties. They can easily swallow all of these materials, which might cause intestinal blockages. It's better to keep things hidden and out of reach of your furry friend.
#5 Playing with window blinds and cords
Curtain or window wires that dangle are like open invitations for your cat to play. Crawling between the draperies, on the other hand, can cause your cat to become tangled in them and fear. Tucking the cables up high and out of reach, where they can't see or reach them, is the easiest method to avoid this.
#6 Eating catnip
#7 Messing with plastic bags
Playing with plastic bags is something that some cats can't seem to get enough of. Kittens enjoy playing in bags, whether it's because of the sound they make or the fragrance of the food inside. However, there are a few reasons why this could become an issue, such as eating a foreign object that obstructs its airway or being stuck in the bag's handles. It's best to keep plastic bags out of reach of your cat and store them in places where cats aren't allowed.
#8 Drinking milk
Although you may have heard that cats and milk go along, it turns out that many cats are lactose intolerant. The only time in a cat's life when its body can digest lactose effectively is when it is born and in its early years. But don't worry; giving them water is entirely acceptable.
