Being caught at the Welikada Prison with nearly two grams of heroin, two SIM cards and a memory chip that was neatly packaged in a small plastic bag which was hanging around the felonious feline’s neck, the prison intelligence officials reported that there had been an increase in the number of people throwing small bags of drugs, phone chargers and cell phones on the wall in the last few weeks. There was no affirmation if drug cats are associated with it.

However, the day after being held in the prison cell (August 2), the smuggle kitty managed to escaped without being noticed. Police suspected that the drug traffickers who trained this feline may have come from the same cartel that used eagles to smuggle drugs back in the Sri Lanka’s history. It was not the first time the police saw a narcotic cat. Last week, a smuggler eagle was detected at the Sri Lanka prison as well. The bird was allegedly used to smuggle drugs on the behalf of a Sri Lankan criminal ringleader in a suburb in the commercial capital Colombo.

Back to the drug cat, it was said that the prison guards were speechless when they figured out the cat hadn’t been in the holding room.

“Ever thought that maybe he was forced to do it because his kittens were held hostage?”

“Plot twist… the cat is the drug lord.”
