Foster Mom Takes In 41lbs Cat And Vows To Help Him Get Healthy And Find His Forever Home

Animal lovers will be attracted by the various adorable looks of the cats. It could be the color, shape, plumage, face or eyes. Each person will perceive the cuteness of cats differently and there is no standard. Meanwhile, there are people who enjoy the chubby cats, and some people are curious of them. Meet Barsik, a 41-pound shelter cat who is a “huge deal” on multiple levels and has more to love. Besides, Barsik’s enormous size might qualify him for a world record or two, but the category of “heaviest cat” was discontinued by Guinness World Records more than 20 years ago to prevent people from overfeeding their pets.

With almost 6,000 Instagram followers, the stocky New York City feline is on his way to becoming an Instagram sensation and will soon be seeking for a forever home.

Angelique Iuzzolino, Barsik’s foster mother, said that, “He’s certainly one of the biggest cats alive right now, as far as we know.” “I was writing about him on my personal account, but he quickly gained a lot of traction.” It means that maybe Barsik’s appearance is a new thing to some people and the community can’t stop enjoying this chubby cat.

That’s when she made him an Instagram account.

In the span of a week, Barsik has gone from homeless to celebrity. The cat, along with his mate, 13-pound Sukie, was abandoned off at Animal Care Centers of New York City earlier this month. The pair was then given to Anjellicle Cats Rescue, a non-profit organization in the area.

That’s when they met Iuzzolino, a cat fosterer with experience finding permanent homes for cats.

Iuzzolino added, “I’ve seen enormous cats before.” “Barsik is a little different in that he’s not just fat, but he’s also enormous all over.” “They couldn’t put Barsik in one of the kennels at the shelter because he was too big. “Because he’s so big, he can’t do much about people touching him in ways he doesn’t want,” Iuzzolino explained. You know a cat has some rules. They don’t like people touching them arbitrarily even that person is known.

She took both Barsik and Sukie when she was told they needed to stay together. Both cats took some time to adjust to their new circumstances, but they have grown to be really lovely and affectionate.

Iuzzolino added, “When I first let Barsik out into our bedroom, he instantly tried to hide.” “We let him decompress for a few hours, then came back and started caressing him, and he calmed down.” This cat needs to get used to the new environment and people, cat has a behavior to observe and know the exact location of single object to identify where they could hide if it is necessary.

Iuzzolino explained that Barsik isn’t just an ordinary house cat with a bit of excess weight in his stomach.

“He is really stunning to look at, and when I first saw him, I was a little taken aback,” Iuzzolino added. “Some people are astonished that he doesn’t appear to be as big as you’d think online because his physique isn’t visible.”

She stated Barsik now “trusts us” and is “very loving.” And he’s glad to be living with Sukie, his best friend. When moving to a new place, Sukis is one of the best things to help him clam and safe because he knows everything will be okay if someone is beside him.

Barsik will be put up for adoption once he is on the right track with a veterinarian-approved diet. Sukie’s ideal forever home will be in the New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut area, according to Iuzzolino.

“There are a lot of people who admire his appearance. “Fat cat is popular among them,” she explained. “He needs to live with someone who is interested in ensuring that he is doing well and losing weight at a healthy rate.”

There’s another thing Barsik’s prospective owner should know about the cat: he’ll probably be a little grumpy as he loses weight.  Maybe he just loves being himself and happy with his body.

Iuzzolino replied, “We tried to take him up once.” “And that was a massive no!” says the narrator.
