Malaysian Artist Creates Fluffy Cats Using Just Ink And The Result Looks Hauntingly Beautiful

Using only a fine-line pen, artist Kamwei Fong carefully produces these textured, fluffy black kitties. The detailed drawings, which are part of a series called The Furry Thing, are the beautiful result of a technique that takes a lot of expertise and time.

“I shade them with tons of small furs,” Kamwei explained to us. “It is, without a doubt, a lengthy procedure. Small cat drawings, such as A3, could take a few days, while larger ones, such as 2537 inches, could take weeks.” The lines vary in size and density to gradually build volume and texture, giving the effect of fur.

The fluffy cats are constructed in such a way that each one has its own distinct, fun personality, demonstrating the Malaysian artist’s skill. Kamwei uses the same approach to produce black and white drawings of a range of animals, including monkeys, puppies, and Bo the Goldfish, a minimalist and peace-inducing mascot through which Kamwei hopes to “encourage and elevate people to become more hopeful about life.” His wonderful drawings, which he offers at his Etsy shop under the moniker ‘Bo & Friends,’ make fantastic gifts!
