Mama Cat And Her Two Kittens That Comforted Soldiers Overseas, Now They’re Going To The Loving Home They Deserve

A story recently became viral on the internet. In one of their campsites, Sergeant Kelsey discovered a cat. The cat was injured and unwell, and she need immediate attention. Kelsey and her crew dubbed the poor cat Sergeant Whiskers after they took care of her and brought her back to health. The cat’s friendship with the warriors got stronger with each passing day. Sergeant Whiskers appreciated the kindness and compassion, and the soldiers appreciated having a snuggle buddy and some spiritual support.

Sergeant Whiskers surprised everyone when she brought her two kittens to the camp a few days later. The warriors admired the cat’s ability to keep herself and her babies alive. The kittens immediately formed bonds with the Sergeant and the soldiers, and they became members of the family. The military are currently collecting money in order to safely transport the kittens to the United States.

In my opinion, this story has touched my heart and I hope you will have a good time at Gidypet during reading this. Every animal deserves love and care. Click here to donate, if you can!

Six weeks into her tour, US soldier Sergeant Kelsey discovered a surprise

“Whiskers first started coming around a few weeks into Sergeant Kelsey’s deployment in the Middle East, and we requested Guardians of Rescue to give us the story of how the cat and her kittens were found,” said Guardians of Rescue.

“She would come from across the parking lot but couldn’t get it all the way without laying down,” the Sergeant explained.

“She’d walk, then lay, then walk, and so on. We saw her nose was severely scabbed, her tail was broken and kinked, her eyes were scabbed, she was very underweight, and she moved with very little enthusiasm when she first came around. We gave her chilly water to try and help her because it was 126° when she started coming around. This didn’t pique her attention. She had a particular place in my heart from the beginning. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. She was physically and perhaps mentally exhausted, but she persisted in fighting for her life and survival. Every day, her positive attitude motivated me. I, too, would fight to get through whatever information or circumstances I was presented with. We dubbed her Sergeant Whiskers because of her positive attitude, showed perseverance, and survival.”

“Sergeant Whiskers and her kittens are doing wonderfully, we’re delighted to report. They’ve all been examined by a veterinarian and are in excellent care. They are receiving the best care and are becoming stronger by the day in order to make the travel to the United States safely.”

They described the most difficult aspect of caring for animals on a campsite as follows:

“The soldiers find it difficult to interact with or care for any cats or dogs they come across due to the environment and regulations around the bases. There is no pet infrastructure in many locations around the world, so even procuring basic supplies is difficult.”

“We have a very good track record of saving these animals for our military serving overseas, and we have very solid preparations in place to get these cats to the United States,” said one of the four partners in foster care.

“Moving animals, even by automobile, can be challenging in other countries, and veterinary care can be difficult to come by. On the ground, we’ve built strong partnerships that can help with these rescues. Bringing animals to the United States is particularly costly, and hot temperatures might halt animal freight during the summer months.”

“It is not so much of a surprise, but we are always shocked at how these unexpected encounters may impact the lives of not only the warriors, but also the animals they save,” the Guardians of Rescue said.

“Cats and dogs are not treated as pets in most settings, and many are subjected to cruel treatment.”

“There has never been a shortage of animals in danger or in need of aid since I was a kid,” the Guardians of Rescue explain.

“Fortunately, I was not one of those kids who could simply look at something and laugh or dismiss it as an animal. I realized at a young age that not everyone thinks the same way I do, but I felt I needed to do something bigger and different to aid more animals. When I had the chance, I started Guardians of Rescue, and hundreds of animals are saved each year from some pretty bad situations as a result. One thing about animal rescue is that it never stops. Sergeant Whiskers’ story is part of our No Buddy Left Behind campaign. This program assists our brave military personnel serving in foreign lands. We cannot ask them to face the loss of leaving their animal companion behind when they are serving their country. When a service member observes an innocent animal in pain, hungry, or injured, he or she must decide whether or not to intervene. Because of their relationship with that cat or dog while serving overseas, many service members continue to get involved with animal welfare when they return home. They realize that not only did they make a difference in that animal’s life, but they can also make a difference in others’, and they frequently get involved locally with animal welfare. This program, in my opinion, is a win-win situation for everyone.”

“Guardians of Rescue’s mission is to rescue animals from dangerous situations. We just rescued a large number of beagles from a lab where they were being used to investigate pain management. Another example: dogs from a breeding facility. They were all in bad shape and need medical attention. Because they had never been touched or loved, social rehabilitation was also essential. Another account tells of a cat hoarder who had over 65 cats, many of whom were malnourished, ill, and plagued with fleas and open sores. She gave us permission to enter and save the animals. Our members had to wear hazmat suits and respirators because the air quality in the house was so terrible.”

“If you wish to help animals, find a local animal-related organization and volunteer. The lessons you learn will be with you for the rest of your life. The best suggestion I can give is to attempt to help local shelters. They labor tirelessly every day, despite the fact that many of them are severely underfunded and lack sufficient volunteers.”

“If you notice something that appears to be improper, seek assistance. A concerned neighbor or someone who simply notices a horrible situation often brings us stories of animal cruelty and neglect. Don’t give up until you’ve found a way to help the animal. We’ve seen animals that came from the most dreadful of circumstances transform into the most loving and caring pets conceivable. If you’re looking for a pet, don’t buy one; instead, go to a shelter and be delighted at the amazing animals there.”
