Man Makes Winter Shelters For Stray Cats Out Of Discarded Coolers

As you may know, winter is one of the most special occasions that people are looking forward to it. People have plenty of plans to do with their family, friends and especially with their pets. Sometimes our expectation and excitement make us forget the crazy temperature out there. During the winter, stray animals have a very difficult time. When the weather turns cold, our homeless furry pals continue to prowl the streets while we stay nice and cozy at home. Fortunately, there are people out there who are doing their best to provide a warm haven for stray animals to sleep and live during this tough time.

One of these persons is Philip Rogich. The man, who lives in Ogden, Utah, transforms trash into little shelters for stray and feral cats. During the cold season, Philip transforms discarded coolers into warm and dry sleeping areas for felines. “I read a Facebook post about a man who made these and decided to give it a shot. I started my own thread hunting for antique coolers, and it quickly grew in popularity. I perform a lot of volunteer work, mostly with kids. I wanted to do something for them because my wife and I are both animal lovers,” Philip said. “So far, I’ve created 77 and have enough coolers to build 15 more.” This is such an incredible and amazing action that helps a lot of stray animals who are lack of conditions to survive. Now it is easier for them to live in a warm and cozy home, and they won’t be struggling with the winter anymore.

“Normally, the cooler maintains a chilly temperature. Philip told Fox13, “We’re going to utilize it to keep the animals warm.” He continued, “I actually have a 6-inch drill bit and then you just use some pipe insulation to pad it once you drill the hole.” “They [the coolers] are already insulated and can be used to keep things cold, but they can also be utilized to keep things warm. They end up in landfills and do not disintegrate. “I’m putting them to another use,” he explained. When asked if community members assist in the construction of the shelters, Philip said. “I am the only one creating them for my project so far.” I created a how-to video so that anyone in the world can make one. I have a number of people that are assisting me in placing them.” This meaningful action should be known and popular to people as much as possible to help the stray animals in all around the world have a home in nature. Together we will make a change and give our four-legged friends a full support.

The now-dubbed animal hero told the journalists, “Everyone has a cooler in their garage that they’re not using.” According to Philip, a discarded cooler may be turned into a shelter with a few components found in any hardware store. To begin, use a 6-inch drill bit to drill an entrance hole. The entrance should next be lined with three-quarter-inch pipe insulation.

“[Feral cats] just disappear, get overlooked. They get cold in the wintertime, too. They’re living creatures”

“Then you just use a straw on the inside. Straw has been used as animal bedding for hundreds of years because of its capacity to dry out,” Philip informed the press. “And there you have it! A cooler for cats! A cooler this large might fit two or three cats!”

“People offer old coolers, straw, and money,” says the narrator. I had no concept how large this was going to get. It all began with a Facebook request for old coolers. Then there was a piece about me on the local Fox station. The tale became viral on the internet. People have contacted me from all around the world. “It makes me happy to be a catalyst for doing some good for our four-legged friends,” the animal hero said that.
