Meet Stevie, The Blind Rescue Cat Who Loves To Go Hiking

Disability doesn’t mean inability, losing a sense of seeing doesn’t mean losing an adventurous personality. Stevie is a wonderful living proof of being the greatest blind feline in the world!

Patrick Corr is a filmmaker who adopted the cat almost a decade ago at a local animal shelter in Cork, Ireland. She is a real mountaineer with her skillful scenting ability which makes people forget that she is blind. Cat dad Patrick and her love to explore the surroundings by hiking the Irish countryside, going around the mountains, or taking the trails together. Patrick once shared that training Stevie with a leash took a while for her to get acquainted with when they went outside.

He said walking on the leash is now “the norm” for her — “she makes it look so easy.”

This dad and daughter love is inseparable, Stevie is always confident to visit the nature with her dad and Corr never imagined if one day he didn’t have Stevie by his side when go hiking.

“When we go hiking together, my adorable cat usually prefers to explore all by herself and follows my sounds. She also walks alongside me on a leash or balances on my shoulders with ease!”

Patrick once revealed that he was not really a cat person until Stevie showed up, because this kitty deserved the world more than her loss – a pair of beautiful eyes.

“That’s not to say I didn’t like cats, far from it,” he said. “It’s just that up until I met Stevie, cats didn’t really take up any of my time; I had other priorities. But now, it’s safe to say, I’ve been converted.”

Stevie the blind feline is always Corr’s inspiration for reaching the goals. Regardless of having a big plan in the future with his wife and 2 kids, the father-of-two never lose his interest on his female partner in crime – Stevie.

“But our family pet continues to be a very important part of my life as she’s always been – we’re best friends!”

She is also the inspiring creature that everyone should look up to and learn about her beyond ability, loyalty, and affection. Patrick had a higher target for him and Stevie to reach: ” We’re planning a big hike in March 2016 where we’ll tackle Ireland’s highest mountain Carrauntoohil to raise money for animal welfare in Ireland.”
