In Kenya’s Masai Mara game preserve in Africa, a wildlife photographer named Jean-Francois Largot saw a remarkable rescue of a lion baby by his mother. The lion cub had fallen off a cliff as his mother’s gaze was diverted away from him. But, happily, he was caught and did not plummet to the cliff’s bottom.

The youngster screamed in terror and fright after sliding down the cliff edge. His mother and four other lionesses dashed over the edge, trying to figure out what had occurred. The lionesses attempted to assist, but quickly realized that the descent to the cub was too steep and perilous. However, his mother’s instincts kicked in, and she acted quickly to save her cub.

The mother cautiously descends down the edge to her terrified son, as you can see in the video. As she inches her way down the cliff, she grips the crumbling side with her formidable claws. She reaches her fatigued youngster just as he appears to be about to collapse, takes him in her muscular jaws, and climbs back to the top.

When the mother lion reaches the top, she tenderly places her baby on her chest and licks his forehead to reassure him that everything is fine. Let’s hope the little one got the message!
The bond between a mother and her child is unbreakable. Finally, everything appears to be in order. The force of motherly love pushed the female lion to put her life on the line in order to save her offspring.
