Refusing To Come Back Home Without Their Adopted Cat, UK Couple Gets Stuck In Mexico For A Whole Year

It doesn’t matter where you are going, it’s who you have beside you. A British couple started their camp van journey with a rescued kitty who made them claim a cat is ‘better traveled than most people’ regardless of how challenging the adventure is ahead. The wanderlust is burning inside this trio: Willow, Lee, and Aimee the cat, they decided to leave everything behind, packed their stuff, and hit the road with a moody VW van.

Living a van life is not easy if you are a beginner, you need to be an adventurous and happy-go-lucky type of person. The couple began their world discovery in August 2019 which has been 2 years and they are planning to some more years coming up. After the loss of the previous black cat Molly, they rescued another furry companion to spice the journey up. Aimee has been traveling with her human parents with a leash around her neck. Usually, cats are pretty annoyed by the leash but Aimee is a good kitty indeed.

The carefree family put their feet on so many countries, started off with North America and off to Mexico. As they crossed from the USA to Mexico, their rescued kitty was attacked by some cruel dogs, her hind leg was severely injured. The couple was basically kind-hearted people so they couldn’t ignore their beloved cat. They were waiting for Aimee to get better so that they could come back strong. Things seemed worse and worse when the pandemic prevent the trio from getting out of Mexico and venturing into another country. Furthermore, when they were waiting for hopping on the ferry to get back to the UK, their camper van was broken down twice, which drove everything to misery.

But the British family and Aimee kitty didn’t regret anything as their journey was beyond greatness. Thanks to Aimee, a sort of not smooth journey went to ease but more life lessons and happiness.

“Our trip is mostly fantastic, despite the breakdowns and COVID. We love seeing new countries, cultures, and people. We have made some friends for life and learned a new language. We have also seen some fantastic places we never knew existed. The thing that is most incredible is the kindness and hospitality of everyday people. In the media, we see so much negativity, but whenever we have found ourselves needing tools or a space to stay, we have always found people to be incredibly kind and trusting, welcoming us into their lives across both the US and Mexico even when we are complete strangers, and that has made this trip truly special.” – Said Willow.

During the adventure, the couple admired how brave and wonderful Aimee was. The locals and strangers were in awe of this marvelous explorer. She is a sweet loving cat as well. Willow revealed a bit about her: “She sleeps in our bed every night and gives us lots of love. She is also the perfect van cat, she loves to travel and gets fed up if we don’t drive around enough. Aimee never runs off, but loves to explore, so we can park up and let her enjoy the trip too. We love having a cat, as we get a companion, but with less restrictions than owning a dog.”
