Who would have thought this crooked chonky pretty kitty used to be nearly threatened to the Death? Pitoe the British shorthair cat was lucky enough to be brought to the vet where her life chapter turned to another page.

There was a post on Reddit with the username MarieGotLost, the girl Marie shared a heart-warming story about her grandparent’s round cat. Pitoe is considered as an unusual feline who has her unfunctional leg with an oversized outlook, and especially, she has a twisted spine which is called scoliosis (so Pitoe is supposed to be shorter than other cats but her width is uncontrollably grown). A cat seller brought a “bad litter” of cats into the vet where Marie’s parents were working and they asked her veterinarian parents to put them to sleep. Pitoe was one of them.
“The owner intended to have her put down because who would want a cat like this?” – wrote Marie.
“My grandparents – who adore animals – had wanted a cat for a while but were afraid to get one, as they feared it might jump over the balcony of their apartment and harm itself. My mom realized that Pitoe – due to her scoliosis – would probably be a very calm kitty and asked if we could give her to my grandparents. The owner happily agreed, and a match made in heaven was created!”

Due to the twisted spine, Pitoe couldn’t jump but she surprised all the family members including her adoptive grandparents by running, playing, and climbing like a pro. In order to make sure that she’s always in pain-free mode and healthy, the vet parents of Marie gave Pitoe a lot of checkups. Luckily, the nearly euthanized grey kitty is the most spoiled queen when she’s with her grandparents.
“Pitoe is doing amazingly well with my grandparents and seems right at home in their apartment. She’s absolutely spoiled rotten, to be honest, as most of the day they are at home, so most of their attention goes to little Pitoe (and she’ll gladly accept it.)”
Marie shared more about our beautiful Pitoe and where she was given the unique name from.
“She’s just the sweetest Kitty. To be honest, she surprised all of us with how playful and active she can be, but around my grandparents, she’s pretty calm, as if she knows she needs to take it easy with them. She loves all attention and will come to ask it whenever there are visitors, so, all in all, she’s perfect! A bit of rebel though, as she loves to throw her water bowl around. (And never the food, which would be so much easier to clean up.)”
“My grandparents used to have another cat named Pitoe. My grandmother, she wanted to honor the previous pet by giving this little ball of cuteness the same name.”
In the nick of time, standing in between a life-and-death situation, Pitoe is now the most pawsitive and adorable kitty that everyone loves thanks to Marie’s parents and her kind-hearted grandparents.
“It’s crazy to think how close she was to being put down, and now she’s the love of my grandparents’ – and our entire family’s – life. It’s so worth it giving a special needs cat a chance!”
