This Comic About ‘Unadoptable’ Cats Is Amazing

Who doesn’t swoon at the prospect of a kitten small enough to fit in their shoe? Through charming comics, one woman wants to remind people that adult and crippled cats are just as lovable.

Brittney, the artist and cat owner, said the cartoon images were inspired by a story she heard a long back that shattered her heart. “A family decided to adopt a cat from a shelter. A three-legged cat captured the daughter’s heart. “Absolutely not,” the father stated emphatically. He couldn’t walk because he was missing a leg. She said on her Tumblr page, “That cat was so close to getting a family who loved him, but the lost limb kept him back.”

Each of the comic strips explores the stigmas associated with “imperfect animals” and people’s reluctance to adopt them. “I get it,” Brittaney wrote, “but adoptability does not imply loveability. All I ask is that people consider the possibility of having a unique cat or a “strange” pet in their lives. Choose the pet with whom you fall in love, but give each one a fair chance to capture your heart.” This cat lover is so dedicated to her feline cause that she even runs an online store that donates 50% of its profits to cat adoption organizations.

See Brittaney’s wonderful cat comics below, and maybe you’ll be motivated to get a new pet of your own. Share this to your friends or family because any cat in this world deserves a chance to love and be loved.
