Miracle does exist, especially in moments where you think it’d never appear, such as last-minute purchases, strangers’ kindness, high scores in a subject you suck at,… One of the most common and most pleasant miracles that everybody has experienced at least once is finding unexpected items or things they think might be lost. Finding random money in your pocket, an old t-shirt from high school, vintage antiques in the garage,… or even finding your pet after months of missing. Whatever the object is, one thing for sure is that the more valuable it is, the more surprising and emotional you are when you find it!
This is the story of how trucker Matthew. B reunited with his long-lost cat Ashes after months of disappearing and living in the streets. Scroll down to read about their miraculous story!
Matthew and his travel buddy – Ashes
The Texas truck driver Matthew B. is not alone in his road trip, because he has a furry companion named Ashes. They have an inseparable bond, whether Matthew is behind the wheel or on a day off, the three-year-old cat is always side by side with his owner.
However, in 2020, Ashes suddenly went missing on one of the trips. They were driving through Springfield, Ohio when the cat ran off Matthew’s 18-wheeler by accident. Unfamiliar with the surrounding, poor Ashes was so scared and bewildered that he ran without noticing that his owner’s truck was so far behind.
Matthew was a bit late when he realized Ashes had disappeared into the bushes. The owner frantically looked everywhere for his buddy but eventually got back on the road in a devastated feeling because he couldn’t skip work that time.
Ashes – Matthew’s cat with beautiful grey fur
For the next two months, Matthew had been searching non-stop for Ashes. He tried to rearrange routes to be able to go back to the place where he lost him – Ohio. However, his effort had not paid off, the cat was still nowhere to be found.
As time passed by, Matthew gradually gave up hope on his buddy, but fate didn’t. A kind passerby named Kimberly T. spotted Ashes when he was outside in the 13-degree weather, looking for food and shelter. “He was trying to not put his feet down on the ground, it was so cold,” she said. Kimberly later took Ashes to her car and drove him to the animal rescue organization nearby – Lollypop Farm.
When the employees checked his health, they noticed he had a microchip that could track down his owner’s location. They were all surprised when the grey cat was 1,465 miles away from home!
“Our Admissions Team immediately scanned for a microchip, as they do with all incoming pets. Not only did he have one, but he had an owner who had registered him under a Texas address that was over 1,465 miles away! This was one cross-country kitty,” said the organization.
Matthew’s emotional reunion with Ashes
They later contacted Matthew about his ‘cross-country kitty’, and Matthew couldn’t be any more stunned when he heard the news. Much as amazed as he was, Matthew was also relieved to find out his precious cat was alive and found after three months of missing. During the reunion, he burst into tears as he hugged Ashes and called it his “Christmas miracle”.
