What is more heartbreaking than to witness a cat was being abandoned by its former owner right across from your house? Nobody has ever imagined one day they would have to see that disheartening scenario, but this, unfortunately, happened to Maria and a poor senior cat, Rolo.
Last year, Maria’s neighbor decided to pack up and move out, they left nothing but a black-and-white catto who had a certain age. In the video, a lady stooped, petted the cat, and hit the road. Maria thought they would come back to pick the kitty later after getting everything done in the new house, but the truth was harshly slapping Maria, Rolo, and us, the cat lovers. The kitty had a no-brainer decision: sitting outside the house and waiting for his owners to scoop him up, no matter sleet, snow, or rain.
As time went by, the feline was getting thinner since he had nothing nutritious to consume. He drank the water outside, when the weather was cold, he curled up and slept, but the ears were still alert, hoping the miracle would happen. Whenever he heard the sound of the vehicle, he would look up, indicating how much he had longed for the owner’s love. Maria was the one who stalked and documented the cat’s behaviors. She couldn’t bear thinking of the cat would live an ownerless life forever, so she came up to him and gave him some food.
At first, Rolo was defensive. He seemed like a possessive kitty because he could only get attached to the family and could barely be friendly with Maria. However, Maria was patient enough to understand his traumatic trigger, so she gradually approached the cat day by day, bit by bit to gain trust from him. A couple of days later, Rolo somehow felt that Maria would never harm him any other way, he opened himself a little bit. Thankfully, Maria could fulfill what he had been missing from the past: food, pets, and love.
Maria rushed the cat to the vet and let him stay for four days to have a full checkup, even a blood test. Thankfully, Rolo was being himself again, he was healthier and stronger after visiting the vet. Maria delightfully adopted him and gave him everything she could. Maria and her boyfriend also made cool toys for Rolo, they also invested a room near the door since he was kind of an outdoorsy guy. In case he still missed the former owner’s house, he could go out and wander around, but Rolo knew where he had to turn back: his benevolent human mom Maria.
Rolo has a lot of hobbies, one of those is rolling in the dirt to have fun. He also loves balls and other bouncy toys so he can fetch and retrieve them. Love is not so far away, it’s right in front of your doorstep, or …neighborhood. Rolo is surely happy with his new forever home and one more important thing is Maria will never let him down!
