When the world of cats has overwhelmingly taken up our space, nothing can stop them from popping up in every circumstance, even it’s a virtual court meeting. Turns out, the video went viral with an educational caption written by Texas judge Roy Ferguson: “If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off.”

This hilarious but adorable happened on the 394th Judicial District Court, where the lawyers and judge gathered virtually and had a court hearing on Zoom. One of the attorneys, Rod Ponton for Presidio County, took his turn to explain and discuss the ongoing event. Instead of showing up a flesh-and-bone face like others, attorney Ponton accidentally disguised himself with a big-eyed white kitten filter on his Zoom account. The judge and his assistant had a hard time figuring out how to remove the hilarious filter.
“I’m not a cat!” – Attorney Ponton reassured the judge.
Two attorneys, The 394th Judicial District Court account, and ‘a kitten’ were captured joining on the screen. While Mr.Ponton was talking, judge Ferguson noticed and pointed out that Mr.Ponton might forget to turn off the filter.
“Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings.” – Judge Ferguson said.

Not knowing what had actually had been happening, attorney Bauer quickly grabbed his pair of glasses to observe. The cat kept talking with an animated mouth and eyes, trying to turn into a person as soon as possible with the assistance of his secretary.
“I don’t know how to remove it.” – Judge Ponton said in a court hearing, as a virtual cat.
“I have my assistant here. She’s trying to but, I’m prepared to go forward with it.” – He added.
During the struggle of the cat filter, the attorney once again reminded everybody that that was not his intention.
“I’m not a cat!” – Mr.Ponton said.
“I can see that.” – Ferguson responded.
Attorney Kendyl Hanks first spotted and shared this funny moment on Twitter. She expressed sympathy for Mr.Ponton because of the incident but she also had a compliment for him because the court hearing was still proceeding professionally.

Because of the pandemic, most meetings and conferences had to be conducted virtually. Judicial District Court was not the exception. However, the one-of-a-kind trouble that went viral showed that sometimes we just couldn’t control the situation, letting it be was the best way. Mr.Ponton was willing to be in a cat form to speak anyway, regardless of the smirk from attorney Phillips.
Luckily, the cat filter was no longer on Zoom meetings, Mr.Ponton gave a credit to one judge who helped him take off the filter.
“The judge figured out how to take the filter off and remove it, and miraculously my less humorous, old guy image appeared during the hearing.” – He said.

After the court hearing, judge Ferguson shared his opinion about the unexpected trouble with a big admiration for the whole online conference. The legal professionals still kept it cool even though the cat filter made itself hilarious and memorable enough to remember.
“These fun moments are a by-product of the legal profession’s dedication to ensuring that the justice system continues to function in these tough times.” – Ferguson tweeted.
“Everyone involved handled it with dignity, and the filtered lawyer showed incredible grace. True professionalism all around!” – He added.

Of course, everybody started to notice Mr.Ponton and his remarkable moment more than ever. He thanked all the attorneys who had joined the virtual conference that the judge and attorneys were calm and compassionate enough to keep on working.
“If the country can pause for a moment and chuckle at a computer snafu at my expense, I’m glad.” – He said.
“It’s been a stressful time.”
